Grossarltal is situated approximately 70 km south of the “City of Mozart”, Salzburg, in the district of St. Johann im Pongau. The valley consists of two towns: Grossarl and Hüttschlag, nestled amid the stunning mountain landscapes of the Hohe and Niedere Tauern ranges.

Driving Directions

Coming from Salzburg or Villach, you’ll approach Grossarltal via the Tauern Autobahn A10. Exit at Bischofshofen and continue on the Pinzgauer Bundesstrasse (B 311) until you reach St. Johann im Pongau. Turn right onto Alpendorfstrasse and continue on the Grossarler Landesstrasse (L 109) to get to Grossarltal. The distance from St. Johann im Pongau to Grossarltal is approximately 16 km.

When traveling by train to Grossarltal, your destination station is St. Johann im Pongau. From there, ride Postbus number 540 into the valley. If there's no bus available, a taxi can take you to Grossarl or Hüttschlag.
